Read the shadow
before you cut
the gnomon.

ShadowArc Solar Desk is a pocket gnomonics workshop. Horizontal, vertical-south, and equatorial engines recompute gnomon angle and hour fans from latitude — then you pin the nodus on a polar board and export a PNG.

Four benches. One solar desk.

The same amber-and-shadow workshop you see in the app: Workshop for the shelf, Designer for the polar board, Atlas for latitudes, Learn for drills.

Workshop

An on-device design shelf. Save dials, notes, city presets, and continue a backyard build without an account.

Designer

Polar hour-line board: pinch-zoom, drag nodus and style markers, snap to grid, export a PNG diagram.

Atlas

80+ city latitudes ready on first open. Search a place, open a city card, and drop that latitude into a dial.

Learn

Declination board, style calculator, recognition drills, and a gnomonics glossary — plus an optional daily tip.

Three engines. Live hour fans.

Pick a dial type and a latitude. The desk recomputes gnomon angle, style length factor, solar declination, and equation of time for the day of year.

EngineHorizontal dial
EngineVertical south
EngineEquatorial

Built like a field notebook

No sign-in. No cloud shelf. Designs, board markers, units, hemisphere, large type, and high-contrast hour lines stay in Room and DataStore. The Glance widget reads only on-device solar math for the current day.

Honest about the shadow

Results are geometric approximations for STEM learning and backyard builds — not certified surveying instruments, and not for navigation or civil-time critical systems. Export diagrams for personal and classroom use.

Support

Questions about ShadowArc Solar Desk on Google Play? Write the publisher. We read notes about engines, the polar board, atlas cities, and the declination widget.

Where are my dial designs stored?

On this device only (Room + DataStore). Uninstalling or clearing app storage removes the shelf. We do not host your designs on a server.

How do I stop daily gnomonics tips?

Open Settings and switch off Daily gnomonics tips, or deny notifications in Android system settings. Workshop, designer, atlas, and drills still work offline.

Can I export a diagram?

Yes. From the polar hour-line board you can export a PNG through the Android share sheet. Sharing is your action — we do not upload the file for you.

The hour lines look wrong for my city.

Check dial type (horizontal vs vertical-south vs equatorial), hemisphere, and the atlas latitude. Engines use educational approximations. Email a screenshot plus latitude and dial type if something still looks broken.

What does the home-screen widget show?

Today’s solar declination and equation of time, computed locally from the day of year. It does not read your location or contacts.

Privacy policy

Effective 21 August 2026 · Last updated 21 August 2026 · Applies to ShadowArc Solar Desk on Google Play (Android). The same policy is intended for any later iOS listing of the same product.

This policy explains how VLASENKODEV (“we”, “publisher”) handles information in ShadowArc Solar Desk (package com.cochardtchourilot.shadowarcsolardesk).

1. Who we are

The Google Play account holder and data controller for this app is VLASENKODEV. Contact: cochardtchourilot74422@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

ShadowArc Solar Desk is an offline-first educational app. No account is required. We do not sell personal data. We do not run an ads identity graph or share your shelf with third parties.

Information that stays on your device may include:

  • Dial designs, city presets, notes, and polar-board markers (Room).
  • Preferences: units, default hemisphere, large type, high-contrast hour lines, daily tips, onboarding, local drill streak.
  • Temporary PNG files created when you export a diagram.

The home-screen Glance widget reads only on-device solar math for the current day. It does not use GPS or a network weather service.

Google Play and Android may process install, crash, or device statistics under Google’s policies when you use Play. That processing is by Google, not by a publisher server we run.

If Android Auto Backup is enabled, the system may include app data in the user’s backup. We do not receive a copy of that backup.

3. How on-device data is used

  • To compute educational sundial geometry and draw hour fans.
  • To keep your workshop shelf and designer board.
  • To show declination and equation of time on the widget.
  • To schedule optional local daily gnomonics tips (WorkManager).
  • To export a PNG when you choose Share.

4. Permissions

  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS). Optional daily gnomonics tips. You may refuse or later disable them in Settings. Workshop math still works.

PNG export uses Android FileProvider so another app you pick can read that one file. We do not browse your photo library or contacts.

5. When you share

If you export a diagram, the file leaves the app through the system share sheet to a destination you choose. That destination’s privacy rules then apply. We do not intercept that transfer on a publisher server.

6. Retention and deletion

If you uninstall the app, local designs are removed with app data. To remove support email we hold, write us and we will delete correspondence that is no longer needed for a support thread, subject to any legal retention duty.

7. Children

The app is a STEM study aid. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a child wrote to us by email, contact us and we will delete that mail.

8. Your choices

  • Use the app without an account.
  • Turn off daily tips or deny notification permission.
  • Delete designs in the shelf, or clear storage / uninstall.
  • Email us about support mail we received.

Depending on your country or state, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Because we do not run a user-account backend, most in-app data is only on your device — you control it there.

9. Terms of use (short)

ShadowArc Solar Desk provides educational sundial mathematics for STEM learning. Results are geometric approximations suitable for teaching and backyard builds, not certified surveying instruments. You may export diagrams for personal and classroom use. The app is provided as-is without warranty for navigation or civil-time critical systems. By using the app you agree that saved designs remain on-device and that no account service is implied.

If the app later adds network features or a new store listing, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date.
